Gov't Shutdown: NOAA NADCON unavailable

1/25/2019 10:30pm EST - With the reopening of government, NOAA NADCON has returned into service.

The government operated NOAA NADCON website which is used to convert NAD83 coordinates to NAD27 (and vice versa) is not available due to a lapse in government funding.

As a substitute, you can use the REC NADCON tool https://recnet.com/nadcon

The REC tool is not as accurate as the NOAA tool but is accurate to the tenth of a second, which still exceeds FCC requirements for coordinate entry.

FCC.today Daily Digest link.

  • Read more about FCC.today Daily Digest link.
Update the link to the FCC Daily Digest to https://www.fcc.gov/edocs/daily-digest/latest which redirects to the most current issue of the Daily Digest. This eliminates the link that goes to a calendar which has been causing display issues with mobile devices. The updated code will bring this functionality to something similar to before the FCC migrated the Daily Digest to EDOCS.

Appropriations have been restored.  Government open.

01/04/2019 12:10 AM

CDBS is continuing to flow through applications filed on 1/3 despite it not being a business day,  Because of this, we have temporarily restored overnight and real-time updating so we can capture these applications and will continue to keep this functionality on.  We are not sure though if CDBS raw data will update during the shutdown but we are getting minimal data through our CDBSBOT system.

Today, we have updated the Logbook of The World (LoTW) callsign list.  This is a December, 2018 list officially provided by the ARRL.   An LoTW indicator currently shows in the listings for US amateur radio operators.  We eventually plan to expand it to include Canada (VE) and Australia (VK) and we eventually plan to take automated updates from the ARRL.

This list replaces an unofficial list last updated on REC in 2015.

For complementary (shadow) transmitters, we are now showing the individual channel numbers.  Even though a large majority of TV complementary transmitters operate on the same channel as their primary station, a few do not.  Today's fixes correct this.  This will also be reflected in FM records when FM complementary (shadow) stations expand.

All websites are being changed to a new server which will mean a change in IP address. During this transition, you may still be on the old server or on the new one. We have tested all background services on the new server and they appear to be working. We are still in the process of testing public facing services on the new server. During this time, you may also experience SSL/privacy errors.
