FM Contours: phase 2
Last weekend, we had converted contours for FM Translator stations from using the FCC contour file to the system doing a calculation of HAAT and determination of contours. This was due to the fact that the FCC contour file had a considerable number of inaccuracies, especially with the applications filed through LMS post September 25, 2019. This past weekend, we have extended that functionality to include full-service FM, LPFM and FM booster stations.
Contours of Class B and B1 stations not appearing correctly.
FM contours in FCCdata frozen (except translators)
Due to the decaying reliability of the contours provided by the FCC on their flat files, we are moving to generating our own contours that will be used in the display of maps in FCCdata.
Display of applications in CDBS
Renewal status real time, new delayed renewal list, minor FCCdata fix.
Renewal Status Tool
The REC Renewal Status tool has been updated to interface with the data used to drive FCC.today. This means that prior to giving a result based on LMS data, the REC LMSBOT real-time data will be used to determine if a grant happened since the last LMS raw data update. If it has, the tool will display the grant and provide a link to the authorization.
Renewal Delays and Dismissals
myLPFM: remove booster protection, fix multi application issue
myLPFM 2.0
Removed requirement to protect FM boosters. There is technically nothing in the rules that requires it and it does mess up LPFM facilities that have boosters.
Put some fixes in that will retain the geographic location on the entry screen if the facility entered has multiple active applications.
Tool will now display a notice in the results when the same channel as the current LPFM station is displayed.
Other minor cosmetic fixes from last weekend's refresh project.
New tool for LPFM stations to edit their listing on LPFM.us
REC has created a new tool for LPFM stations to update the listing that appears on LPFM.us, the Official National LPFM Station Directory, presented by REC Networks.
Within the tool, users will be able to update the following fields:
User interface changes for apps hosted on recnet.com
This project is updating the various applications that are hosted off of the recnet.com infrastructure. Many of these changes are cosmetic and are intended to improve display on small screen mobile devices. One tool has been discontinued. Other changes may be made if needed. REC has updated the following applications:
NADCON (NAD27/83 Conversions)
Updated page style. Added message warning about the tool's use in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands due to possible issues with REC's NADCON table in this area.
Website theme and related changes..
Installed and configured new website theme for main recnet.com site. New theme is cleaner, has more functionality including top pull down menus.
Some apps served off of the recnet.com website may be modified mainly for cosmeting changes to work with the new theme.
These changes may take place over time and not be reported here.
Bad CDBS load from FCC - REC CBDS data on 2/26/2020 vintage
For the second day in a row, we have received a nearly blank ZIP file from the FCC. We are in the process of replacing with a vintage ZIP file from 2/26/2020. This will represent all FM engineering (except STAs) but there will be gap in CDBS filings for about a 2 month period until the issue with CDBS data is resolved.
ETU for vintage data build, approximately 11:30 AM ET 4/30.
5/1/20 load was normal.
4-29-20 BAD LOAD FROM CDBS AFFECTING VARIOUS SYSTEMS
on 4-29, we received an empty CDBS data load from the FCC. As of 9:30AM 4/29/20, systems are displaying unreliable data. This includes FCCdata.org.
FCC.today is continuing to display real time application activity but without community name data that it normally receives from CDBS.
REC will attempt to revert to yesterday's CDBS data.
ETU 4/29/20 12:00 noon.
Issue resolved: 4/29/20 12:30pm ET.
FCCdata/fcc.today: Enhancements to "LMS only" FM facility records
With the conversion of FM broadcast application filing from CDBS to LMS on September 25, 2019, many issues with filing have arisen. Not only are there many bugs in the filing and processing (especially for LPFM), but there are also a lot of problems in the raw data.
FCCdata: resolve performance issue on dialscape
On FCCdata & Denpahoso for the United States, there has been a slow response on the dialscape display (listing of stations for a particular community).
Code has been modified to improve the response time.
fcc.today: HTML applications
The display of most applications linked from FCC.today will be shown as HTML versions instead of PDF. This will improve the viewing using a manner similar to that provided by CDBS. Some applications may still display as PDF.
