The Media Bureau is now seeking comment on a Petition for Rulemaking filed by HC2 Broadcasting asking the FCC to allow low-power television (LPTV) stations — on a voluntary basis — to use the 5G Broadcast transmission standard as an alternative to the currently-authorized ATSC 1.0 and ATSC 3.0 standards.

A trio of licensees of broadcast television stations serving Southern California have each entered into consent decrees with the FCC Media Bureau's Video Division, led by Barbara Kreisman, that will see civil penalties of significance result in hefty checks written out as payable to the U.S. Treasury.

A Class A FM radio station licensed to cover the U.S. Virgin Islands' territories of St. John and St. Thomas is being sold by Gordon Ackley, a longtime operator of broadcast properties in this English-speaking Caribbean commonwealth under FCC jurisdiction.

“Verizon is an incredibly important and valued partner to the radio industry,” said RAB President/CEO Mike Hulvey, who also serves as chair of the Radio Creative Fund. “The brand’s messaging is always culturally relevant."
