REC Networks launches new company, REC Broadcast Services, LLC

By admin | 8:54 PM EDT, Thu August 14, 2014

AMES, IA  (August 14, 2014) - - - REC Networks, recognized as one of the “big-three” advocates for the Low Power FM (LPFM) service is announcing the creation of a new company, REC Broadcast Services, LLC.  (“REC LLC”)

REC LLC will be a for-profit operation which will be handling requests from LPFM licensees, permittees and applicants for allocation engineering consulting, application preparation and filing services with the Federal Communications Commission (“FCC”).   The new REC LLC will also handle the sales, billing and collections for the services provided.  In the past, the sales, billing and collections aspect of the business was managed by Nexus Broadcast, LLC which closed its doors on July 31, 2014.

Michelle Bradley will be the president of REC LLC.  Michelle (or Michi as many know her by) founded REC Networks in 1984 and has been involved with LPFM since the rulemaking process before the service was created.  Michi’s accomplishments over the years included public education efforts in the LPFM service, identification of integrity gaps including the “Great Translator Invasion” and the recent filing of 249 similar LPFM applications across the country.  Michi and REC are best known for myLPFM.com and the many online resources available from REC.   Michi will be responsible for the generation of the product as well as the customer experience. Michi is based out of Riverton, Maryland.

Joe Serocki will be the vice president of REC LLC.  Joe formerly handled the sales at Nexus Broadcast, LLC in support of the RECnexus service offering.  Joe will be responsible for sales, marketing, vendor relations, new lines of business and business operations. Joe is also the President of Local Community Broadcasting, Inc., licensee of WIMH-LP, Ingleside, Illinois. Joe is based out of Ingleside, Illinois.

Despite the closing of Nexus Broadcast, LLC, those clients who had requested and paid for services through the former RECnexus service will continue to have their services fulfilled by REC.  Many of these clients are mutually exclusive (MX) applicants who are waiting for the FCC to announce a filing window to make changes and other settlements.  In addition, a small number of clients of REC from prior to the RECnexus relationship will continue to have their original services honored.

REC LLC does wish to point out that we have not acquired the Nexus customer base other than those who had pending RECnexus requests at the time of the Nexus shutdown. Other than RECnexus customers, REC does not have access to former Nexus client’s FCC CDBS and FRN password information.  REC will be able to guide you in obtaining your filing credentials and updating your FCC contact information as needed.  REC does not provide any support for the Nexus branded transmitters or processors as well as any other tangible goods or corporate filing services that were provided through Nexus Broadcast, LLC. We are currently working on affiliate agreements with equipment providers that live up to our high standards.

Other REC projects including REC Networks broadcast advocacy, J1 Radio, The KRKD Project as well as REC’s information technology infrastructure will remain a part of the not-for-profit REC Networks.

REC Broadcast Services’ main sales telephone number is 1-844-REC-LPFM (844-732-5736).
Clients who have pending work with REC or RECnexus can call 202-621-2355, option 4.
The REC LLC website can be found at http://recfm.us
