J1 Radio and former properties

PURE JPOP ~ J1

J1logo

J1 (formerly Hardcore J) remains the number one Japanese popular music (JPOP) streaming radio station on Live365. Every week, J1 adds an average of 20 new songs to their playlist and does a weekly Top-40 chart based on the national and local music charts in Japan to assure diversity in the format.

POWERPUFF.COM

powerpuff.com logo

At one time, POWERPUFF.COM was the fan's favorite place for everything about the Cartoon Network TV series, THE POWERPUFF GIRLS. We had participation by the show's staff including the creator, Craig McCracken. We featured some of the first licensed merchandise. We had several features including the Oekaki paint board where users can use an online tablet to draw pictures.

POWERPUFF.COM is no longer in operation.

Former AHR Stations

AHR operated as many as 6 additional streaming formats including:

POWERPUFF-FM - "Anime Hits and Cartoon Bits" - PPFM played cartoon themes, extended songs from cartoons, novelty songs and English language songs from anime. This was a playlist inspired in part by the former Radio Aahs.

HARDCORE ONE - "24 Hour A Day Anime" - Formerly known as Powerpuff Hardcore and then just Anime Hardcore Radio, Hardcore ONE played the medium and up-tempo anime music 24 hours a day. Features included "Overdrive" which was a morning segment that played a lot of up-tempo songs, "Toons at Noon" that played cartoon themes (after PPFM went off the air) and "Hardcore ONE TV Size", a short show that played the shorter versions of the anime themes that were used during the actual TV shows.

HARDCORE 2 - "The lighter side of anime" - HC2 played mainly the downtempo songs within the anime genre. The overnight show "Yarai" played a mix of the lightest sounds of anime along with relaxing background music.

HARDCORE 3 - "Music too good for words" - Hardcore 3 played strictly background music (BGM) from anime series along with karaoke tracks.

In addition to the primary formats, in the latter days AHR operated two feeds under the Hardcore XTRA name:
HARDCORE 5 - Japanese rock and very hardcore anime.
HARDCORE 6 - "Cute" songs from JPOP and anime.

The "Hardcore XTRA" name would resurface in 2007 for a stream that included anime, girlpop and English language talk programming.

Why was there no Hardcore 4?
When Hardcore J was first created, it would have been the forth Japanese network. It was decided that because of the fact that in Japanese culture, the number 4 (shi) symbolized death, we did not think it would be a good idea to call the JPOP format Hardcore 4. Instead, we called it Hardcore J and then when we created the new stations, we skipped 4. It must have worked since Hardcore J remains the sole internet broadcast to this day.
