This is a simple retrieval tool that will query the REC database for alerts that have been received through the Federal Emergency Management Agency's IPAWS All Hazards feed. This will include alerts that are intended for the Emergency Alert System (EAS), Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) as well as severe weather related National Weather Service alerts which currently do not go over EAS through IPAWS/CAP. Non-severe weather information (except marine weather) is also available through the NWS feed..

* WHAT...Snow, heavy at times this afternoon and evening. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 15 inches mainly above 5000 feet. Up to 18 inches or more of snow accumulation at the highest elevations. 2 to 6 inches of snow down to around 4000 feet. Winds gusting from 30 to 50 mph out of the southwest. * WHERE...Western Plumas County/Lassen Park and West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada, including Interstate 80 over Donner Pass, Highway 50 over Echo Summit, and Highway 88 over Carson Pass. * WHEN...Through 8 AM PDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult from snow-covered roads and reduced visibilities. Chain controls are likely this afternoon and evening. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow levels will be around 4000 to 5000 feet this afternoon, lowering to around 3000 feet early Sunday morning. Snowfall rates of around 1 to 2 inches per hour are possible through to 10 PM Saturday, which will lead to reduced visibilities and snow-covered roads.
