This is a simple retrieval tool that will query the REC database for alerts that have been received through the Federal Emergency Management Agency's IPAWS All Hazards feed. This will include alerts that are intended for the Emergency Alert System (EAS), Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) as well as severe weather related National Weather Service alerts which currently do not go over EAS through IPAWS/CAP. Non-severe weather information (except marine weather) is also available through the NWS feed..

* WHAT...Dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...Kenedy Island, Willacy Island and Cameron Island Counties. * WHEN...Through Tuesday evening. * IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Swell direction has turned easterly this afternoon, changing the nature of the currents from a south-to- north longshore and east to west rip mix to strictly an east- to-west rip current condition. An outflow from earlier thunderstorms more than 200 miles offshore was moving from northeast to southwest late Monday afternoon...and this situation will further increase the rip current intensity this evening and overnight.
