FAQ: The LPFM station is in the process of an assignment at the time when the renewal is due. What is the process?

Select FAQ Category:

In consultation with Audio Division staff, please follow these procedures depending on the situation:.

If the assignment application has not yet been granted:

The assignor (old party) needs to file the renewal in a timely manner.  This application would be electronically signed by an authorized representative of the assignor's organization.  The assignment application will not be granted until after the renewal application is granted (which usually takes place in the month prior to the expiration of the license).  Once the assignment application is granted, the consummation notice can be filed to complete the process.

If the assignment application has been granted but has not yet been consummated.

File the consummation notice.  Once filed, contact the FCC Audio Division to have the new FRN associated with the station in LMS.  The assignee organization can then file the renewal application.

If the assignment application has been granted and has been consummated but LMS is still not reflecting the new FM.

Contact the FCC Audio Division to have the new FRN associated with the station in LMS.
