On December 13, 2018, the Commission released a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking in the 2018 Quadrennial Regulatory Review – Review of the Commission’s Broadcast Ownership Rules and Other Rules Adopted Pursuant to Section 202 of the Telecommunications Act of 1996. In the 2018 Quadrennial Review NPRM, the Commission seeks comment on whether its broadcast ownership rules remain “necessary in the public interest as the result of competition” or whether they should be modified or eliminated in light of changes to the media marketplace. The Commission also seeks comment on three proposals relevant to promoting diversity in the broadcast industry
