With memories of chicken weenies dancing in our heads, we continue into our second year of telephone entertainment. We ride up until tape #49, which we declare as the end of our first "season". We came back with a Cinco De Mayo Special. A little experiment with "The Talk of the Town" would take place but it was a flop. With the new answering device, we also experimented with recordings in stereo.

The Second Season
In April 1985, we installed a dual line coupler designed by Jim Clothesline. This allowed us to play programs on auto reverse tape decks similar to the 'big lines'. The first program to air on the new output equipment was the ''3rd Annual ARTE Awards', we then played some reruns throughout April. On May 5, we started making tapes again. 700-8500 was the main output number, we now had an input line at 700-9316 (referred to as the 'Instant Input' line) and an auxilliary output program on 700-9345 (called 'Channel 3').

The 'Talk Of The Town' Series
REC tried to veer away from the 'Calcom' name by presenting a series of tapes called 'The Talk Of The Town'. During the 'ToT' series, REC dropped the Channel 3 format, made some number changes, re-added the Van Nuys number and took the second coupler and split the audio so the left channel audio played over one line and the right channel was played over another line. Callers with two telephones on two phone lines could hear the show in stereo. Those who experienced it thought it sounded real great!

More 1985 Tapes
With the bad stigma that was already attached to the 'Talk of The Town' name thanks to KIEV radio with personalities like George 'putt putt' Putnam. REC has switched back to the California Comments (CalCom) name throughout the rest of '85 and some of '86.
